The Langdale Marathon is run over two laps of a fell course, starting and finishing outside the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in Great Langdale at 10:30am. The route climbs 1,183 metres across the full distance — rising from a valley floor minimum of 46 metres to a high point of 224 metres — making it one of the more demanding autumn marathons in the UK. The 2026 edition hosts the Police Sport UK National Marathon Championships, which is expected to increase the field beyond the 83 who finished in 2025.
